This initiative focuses on the health needs of the rural poor, especially of women and children, through a community health programme in which SAS identifies, selects and trains rural women to function as skilled community health workers. Through this programme, it creates awareness in the villages about HIV/STD, small family norms and traditional health systems.

Herbal Medicine preparation
Training in the preparation Herbal Medicines was organized at Christ Niwas Nesargi on 21st October 2014. Fr. Thomas Chenakala, Sr. Brigitha, Mr. Yellappa,  Ms. Shobha and Ms.Yellavva were the resource persons. During the training, Mr. Vishnu Karigar who was specially invited for the occasion enlightened the participants on new medicinal herbs and their usage.

The training motivated and assisted the trainees to prepare medicines for home usage. In the training program special herbal oil for all kinds of joint pains was prepared by the participants. The participants decided to have training every month. Next training is scheduled for 25th November, 2014 at Christ Niwas Nesargi.
